
The US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) has suspended drilling operations on Platform A in the Gulf of Mexico after the death of a worker on-site.
An employee of Nabors Industries who was working on the platform rig is believed to have died after suffering a fatal injury.

Responding to the incident, BSEE said that the drilling operations will remain suspended until it grants approval to resume drilling. However, production has continued from a separate deck.
Located on Green Canyon Block 18, 150 miles south of New Orleans, Platform A is operated by offshore oil and gas company Whistler Energy II.
Local media reported Whistler Energy II executive vice-president and CEO Robert Wichert saying that no explosion occurred in the incident.
Regulators are working with the operator and will investigate the incident.
