The lab features specific testing capabilities that include hydrogen sulphide, reid vapour pressure (RVP) and detailed hydrocarbon analysis (DHA).
Intertek managing director James Ignatovich said that the opening of the laboratory in EFS, which is a chief shale development for North America, represents a natural progression and important investment for the company and its customers.
"We continue to see a great opportunity in shale and look forward to bringing in new industry experts and laboratory talent who will drive the Intertek vision across this region to meet market needs," Ignatovich said.
EFS also ranks as one of the largest oil and gas developments in the world, based on capital invested.

By GlobalDataSaid to be the first shale oil and gas designated lab, the Elmendorf facility complements the company’s existing global network of oil and gas laboratories.
The lab offers advanced analytical instrumentation and technical expertise, which allows for industry specific testing such as analysis of crude oil offered for transportation, as recently issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT), and GPA gas analysis.
The facility is part of Intertek’s Texan and global hydrocarbons testing laboratory network and offers a range of crude oil, condensate and natural gas sampling and sample analysis services.
