American company KBR has secured an engineering and project management services contract from JVGAS for gasfields in Algeria.
Under the contract with JVGAS, which is a joint venture (JV) comprising Sonatrach, Statoil and BP, KBR is mandated to provide detail design engineering, procurement services as well as construction management at the major gas developments at In Salah Gas and In Amenas.

Towards the implementation of the work, which is scheduled to be completed in around four years, KBR will perform engineering and the procurement services from the UK and Chennai offices in collaboration with the local, in-country, engineering office.
KBR EMEA president Jay Ibrahim said: “KBR is proud of its long history in Algeria where we have been working for over 45 years.
“This project will demonstrate KBR’s ability to utilise its global resources to provide the full spectrum of engineering project services on one of the largest projects in the country.”
According to the company, revenue earned from the project will be used to cover the backlog of unfilled orders for its engineering and construction business as task orders are confirmed.

The In Amenas JV is a wet gas project, focused on the development and production of natural gas and gas liquids from fields in the Illizi Basin in south-eastern Algeria.
The In Salah gas JV is a dry gas joint-venture project, which involves the development of seven proven gasfields in the southern Sahara.
