McDermott International has secured a brownfield contract with RasGas Company for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of a flow assurance and looping project offshore Qatar.

The project consists of 74 miles of six and eight inch pipeline, as well as topside modifications.

McDermott plans to complete the work by the end of the third quarter of 2017.

"Some 20 years ago, McDermott and RasGas began building what has become a historically strong working relationship."

During their two decades of collaboration, McDermott fabricated and installed various RasGas facilities offshore Qatar.

Under the current engineering service agreement (ESA) the company said it has executed several concept studies in addition to front end engineering design (FEED) projects.

The upgrade and replacement of three helidecks would be taken up by the McDermott team.

McDermott International Middle East vice-president Tom Mackie said: "Some 20 years ago, McDermott and RasGas began building what has become a historically strong working relationship.

"By combining our knowledge of the customer’s current production infrastructure, early collaboration through our ESA, and our unique brownfield capabilities, McDermott provided RasGas with an optimal EPCI solution."

McDermott’s teams in Dubai, UAE will carry out the engineering, procurement and fabrication and the installation work would be performed using vessels from the McDermott global fleet.

During October, Qatar Petroleum awarded a contract to McDermott for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of four wellhead jackets offshore Qatar.

Installation of two jackets in the Bul-Hanine field offshore the area east of Doha is expected to be completed by December 2016, with the remaining two slated for completion in July 2017.
