Singapore-based Nordic Maritime has received a contract from Cairn India to provide 3D marine seismic data acquisition and processing services off the coast of Andhra Pradesh, India, starting later this month.
Under the terms of the $23.5m contract, Nordic Maritime will collaborate with Russia-based SCF Geo to feature the group’s seismic survey vessel Vyacheslav Tikhonov, which will survey approximately 1,000km² of ocean bed.

The companies will also charter and mobilise a supply ship and ten chase vessels from Indian owners in order to support the 3D data acquisition programme.
As part of the offshore project, gravity and magnetic data will also be acquired alongside the seismic data near Nizamapatnam Bay.
The Vyacheslav Tikhonov, which is operated by SCF Geo and based in St Petersburg, was built in 2011 and is an eight-streamer seismic survey vessel, based on the X-bow Ulstein design from Norway.
As confirmed by Nordic Maritime, the project will commence in March and last for three months, and is slated for completion by the middle of June.

By GlobalDataDue to depart from the Port of Kakinada, the vessel will be covering a total area of 1,023km² during the project period.
Nordic Maritime CEO Kjell Gauksheim said: "This award from Cairn Energy for work offshore India is naturally exciting for Nordic and our partners.
