Before the accident took place, a well located close to platform was closed, meaning there was no oil or gas spill.

Pemex data revealed that the accident took place at Caan field, which produced nearly 12,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude in March.

In April, an offshore accident that occurred due to a huge blaze in the Gulf of Mexico’s oil platform killed four workers.

One of the missing workers was employed by Pemex, while the other two were from contractor Cotemar, sources said.
