A total of five LNG contracts have been signed in the second quarter of 2016 with France having signed the highest LNG contract volume during the period, according to a report by GlobalData.

Titled ‘Q2 2016 Long-term LNG Contracts Review – EDF Group Signs Highest LNG Contract Volume in the Quarter’, the report states that the biggest contract is for exporting two million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG that has been signed by French company EDF.

The 20-year agreement has been signed with Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company Limited (III), which will supply LNG to the new Dunkirk terminal.

A contract for 1.5mtpa of LNG by Itochu Corporation is the second highest contract in terms of volume in Q2 2016.

Veresen has been contracted to supply LNG from Jordan Cove terminal in the US to Japan for a 20-year period, beginning 2021.

The 20-year contract is for the supply of LNG from Qatargas II (Train 5) terminal in Qatar to Pakistan starting from 2018.

The GlobalData report also mentions two other high-volume LNG contracts signed in Q2 2016, which were by Toho Gas and Guangzhou Gas Company.
