A total of 333 tankers and carriers are expected to commence operations globally in 2017-2021, with Teekay LNG Partners expected to add the highest LNG carrier storage capacity, according to a report by GlobalData.

Out of the 333 tankers and carriers, 131 are crude oil tankers, 115 are LNG carriers and 87 are LPG tankers. The tankers and carriers announced during H1 2017 include 11 crude tankers, eight LNG carriers and four LPG tankers.

New tankers and carriers announced in H1 2017 include four by Solvang ASA and FLEX LNG, two by Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, DHT Holdings and Enesel, and one each by Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (Cyprus), Kyoei Tanker and Knutsen OAS Shipping.

The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia and Maran Tankers Management were the top operators, with both announcing planned crude tankers with the highest DWT of 2.7 million DWT and 2.2 million DWT respectively.

Eletson Corporation and KSS Line have additionally announced plans to add LPG tankers with storage capacities of 620,000m³ and 328,000m³ respectively, the highest among all operators.
