Russian oil major Rosneft and Norwegian Statoil have completed drilling at two horizontal exploitation wells at the North-Komsomolskoye field in Russia.
The drilling works were concluded as a part of the Pilot Project at the PK1 layer of the oil field, Rosneft said.

The firms have used advanced extended logging for the drilling process at the sites which included core and fluid samplings.
‘Openhole gravel packing’ in a horizontal section of 1,000m, was also used for the drilling, which is a first for onshore exploration in the country.
Test results from the process are expected to help in developing PK1 layer.
Once implemented, the project is likely to facilitate around 600 million tons of geological oil extraction from the site in the short term.

"The pilot drilling at the North-Komsomolskoye field opens a new stage of the joint work of Rosneft and Statoil. The companies are working actively and continue developing the long-term cooperation."
The firm had signed co-operation agreement with Statoil for extraction of hydrocarbons from the North-Komsomolskoye site in May 2013.
