Japanese company Shizuoka Gas has completed the first sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by utilising the reloading facilities of Shimizu LNG Terminal (Sodeshi Terminal).
The company has been exploring the possibility of further utilisations of Sodeshi Terminal by expanding liquidity on the LNG transaction, which will help it to reduce the LNG procurement cost.

It will help the company to adapt to the deregulated gas market of Japan, including the retail sector of city gas distribution from April this year.
Shizuoka Gas developed relevant facilities to reload the LNG, which was already discharged into the LNG storage to the LNG tanker last April.
Two months later, the company entered into an LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Shell Eastern Trading.
Under the SPA, Shizuoka Gas completed the first LNG sale by using the reloading facilities at Sodeshi Terminal.

The company was established in 1910. It is one of the 211 city gas distributors in Japan and covers ten municipalities between Tokyo and Nagoya.
