Pipelay support vessel (PLSV) Skandi Búzio owned by the joint venture of TechnipFMC and DOF Subsea has started its eight-year charter contract with Petróleo Brasileiro (Petrobras). 

Skandi Búzios is the sistership of the Skandi Açu, which started its charter contract on 13 August last year.

With a flexible pipelay tension capacity of 650t the two vessels enable installation of large diameter flexible pipes in the ultra-deepwater pre-salt area in Brazil.

TechnipFMC Subsea Projects president Hallvard Hasselknippe said: “We are confident that these new state-of-the-art PLSVs, together with the expertise of our people, will be key for Petrobras to successfully achieve its projects offshore Brazil.”

Under the JV agreement, TechnipFMC will be responsible for the engineering and management of the flexible pipelay while the marine operations will be conducted by  DOF Subsea’s subsidiary Norskan.

DOF Subsea CEO Mons Aase said: “This milestone project is the result of our long-term focus on the Brazilian market. We are proud of this significant addition to our Brazilian fleet.”
