Total E&P Norge has awarded Subsea 7 a $75m subsea, umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) contract for the Atla Field in the North Sea.

The company will be responsible for the management, engineering, procurement and installation of a 7km flexible flowline on the pipeline between the Byggve and Heimdal fields.

The contract will also cover the installation of a 7km umbilical between the Atla Production Guide Base and the Byggve PGB, survey activities, tie-in and pre-commissioning activities and other associated services.

Engineering and project management will begin immediately, with offshore operations to start in the second quarter of 2012.

The Atla field, formerly known as the David field, is located 20km north-east of the Heimdal field.
