
Sweden-based Viking Supply Ships has extended its contract with Eni Norge for the Ice-classed anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) ‘Njord Viking’ for a period of 17 months.
According to Viking Supply, the initial contract term was until 29 July.

Following the contract extension, the vessel will be with Eni Norge until 31 December 2016 and with an extra pair of six month options.
At present, Njord Viking is supporting the Goliat project in the Norwegian Barents Sea, where production is expected to start later in 2015.
The contract value, which has been decided in exchange for a longer firm period than originally agreed, has been reduced now.
The total value of the extended firm period of the contract now stands at around Nkr150m ($18.7m).

By GlobalDataOffshore oil field Goliat is located 85km north-west of Hammerfest and is owned by Eni Norge (operator, 65%) and Statoil Petroleum (35%).
Production at the field with two main formations is expected to continue for ten to 15 years.
