
International energy services company Wood Group has announced the opening of a new 16,000ft² training facility in Kenedy, Texas, US.
The company will undertake educational programmes for Eagle Ford shale workers focusing on health, safety, and environment (HSE) as well as technical competency.

The centre has a 300-capacity training room, an instrumentation and electrical lab, a computer-based training lab and a board room. It also has an outside pad with a tank battery, and an area with buried pipe to practice pipeline finding.
Wood Group co-presidents Mitch Fralick and John Glithero said: "Through the use of dynamic curriculum and client-specific requests, Wood Group can help to ensure knowledgeable personnel and a safe environment for the region."
The training curriculum includes basic production operations for entry-level personnel as well as the essentials of managing oil and gas contract obligations for experienced lease operators.
HSE-specific classes include Department of Transportation operator qualification, H2S training, and defensive driving.
