It marks the commercialisation of the LNG import facility, which is projected to generate $50m in annual earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) by 2027.

The TGS terminal has a capacity of roughly six million tonnes per annum (mtpa) and can send out a maximum of 500 million standard cubic feet per day (mscf/d).

A 33km pipeline connects the offshore LNG terminal to the existing Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil (TBG) pipeline on land.

Strategically positioned, the TGS terminal provides essential access to natural gas for power generation in southern Brazil, where alternative supplies are limited.

Its infrastructure aims to support reliable power generation through its flexible LNG capabilities.

Beyond the immediate contractual revenues, TGS is anticipated to bolster New Fortress Energy’s growth prospects in Brazil by supplying its UTE Lins 2 power project, which is part of a recent auction and expected to begin operations in 2031.

The combination of secured cash flow from 2026 and future growth linked to new power generation projects by 2031 positions TGS as a key asset within New Fortress Energy’s integrated LNG-to-power operations in Brazil.

New Fortress Energy Brazil managing director Leandro Cunha said: “This agreement delivers immediate, contracted cash flow and highlights the strategic value of our infrastructure platform in Brazil.

“TGS is now positioned as a stable, cash-generating asset with meaningful long-term upside.”

In July 2025, New Fortress Energy completed a five-year charter deal for deploying the Energos Winter, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with a capacity of 138,250m³, in partnership with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS). Energos Winter was initially used for launching the TGS terminal before it was relocated to Egyptian waters.
