Venture Global has commenced LNG production at its second facility, Plaquemines LNG, located in Port Sulphur, Louisiana.
The company stated that reaching this milestone just 30 months after its FID makes Plaquemines LNG one of the two fastest greenfield projects to achieve first production, alongside its Calcasieu Pass facility.

When completely operational, Plaquemines LNG, with an export capacity of around 20mtpa, will be among the largest LNG facilities globally, the company added.

By GlobalDataPhase one of Plaquemines LNG reached FID in May 2022, with Phase two following suit in March 2023.
Venture Global’s configuration and construction approach enables the facility to begin producing and exporting LNG even while construction and commissioning of the remaining 36 trains and associated facilities continue.
This approach is set to unlock a significant increase in US LNG supply much faster than other new entrants in the rapidly expanding global market.
The additional supply from Plaquemines LNG is vital, serving as a key geopolitical asset for the US, particularly during times of historically tight global LNG markets and project delays, stated the company.
