UK-based firm Premier Oil has awarded a five-year contract to Sparrows Group for the provision of crane operations and maintenance for two assets in the North Sea.
Under the contract, Sparrows will provide offshore crane operations and maintenance such as major component change out and overhaul to the Balmoral floating production vessel (FPV) and Solan installation.

The contract covers all cranes and associated mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and instrumentation at the fields.
In addition, the company will handle inspection, condition monitoring, management of maintenance strategies and full engineering scopes.
Located 96km north-west of the Orkney Islands, Solan field achieved its first oil in April last year and has the capacity to store up to 300,000 barrels of crude oil.
Balmoral floating production vessel (FPV) enables production the Balmoral area fields and is located 200km north-east of Aberdeen at a water depth of 143m.

Sparrows noted that onshore support and repairs required under the contract will be conducted from its global headquarters in Aberdeen.
The latest contract comes after Sparrows secured a three-year year crane management services contract with Chyrsaor last month.
