Oil and gas exploration firm Strike Energy has announced the progression of appraisal and pre-development activities at the West Erregulla gas field in the Perth Basin, Western Australia.
The Permian gas fairway in the Perth Basin, which hosts more than three trillion cubic feet (tcf) of recent discoveries, is interpreted to be effective and extends into the Dandaragan Trough to the south-east within Strike Energy’s acreage.

The merging of 2D and 3D datasets over the south of West Erregulla areas have matured a lead into a significant new prospect known as South Erregulla.
The South Erregulla comprises a series of fault blocks located in the south and south-west of the West Erregulla structure.
It has a total approximate area of 66km² compared with West Erregulla’s size of 40km² and has a prospective resource estimate of 1.6tcf over its lifetime.
Strike Energy noted that South Erregulla also continues to the south-west into the Beach Energy-operated neighbouring permit, where the latter has just completed a Trieste 3D seismic survey.

By GlobalDataStrike Energy said in a statement: “West Erregulla is just the beginning of what Strike believes to be a basin-shaping discovery and may become known as the Greater Erregulla Gas Project.”
Meanwhile, the company is awaiting the delivery of the Native Title Agreement for three permit applications (EPA 82, 98 and 99), which will allow it to start exploration activities in these areas.
In November 2019, Strike Energy completed drilling and flow-testing operations of the West Erregulla-2 well. The company released a 2C Contingent Resource estimate of 1,185bcf (gross) for the Kingia and High Cliff Sandstones at West Erregulla.
