Three foreign experts have been injured following an explosion near Oil India Limited (OIL)’s gas well number 5 at Baghjan in the Indian state of Assam.

The Baghjan field is located in the Tinsukia district of Assam.

Oil India Limited spokesperson Tridip Hazarika was quoted by ANI as saying: “The incident occurred when operations to douse the fire at Baghjan oil field was going on. The operation has been halted now.

“Three foreign experts who were at the site are injured. They have been rushed to hospital.”

The gas well has uncontrollably releasing gas for 56 days following a blowout in May. Two OIL firefighters had lost their lives at the site then.

Over 9,000 people have been shifted so far to relief camps after the blowout at the well.
