Zion CEO John Brown said. “Our planned 3D seismic program demonstrates Zion’s long-term commitment to our dedicated shareholders and to the citizens of Israel.”

While the preliminary work on the 3D landowner permitting process started many weeks ago, the company has now formalised the scope of work with a signed agreement with Zion’s contractor.

Zion’s contractor is currently receiving required infrastructure permits and acquiring accurate landowner identification for the seismic area.

Zion Israel managing director and vice-president Jeff Moskowitz said: “The Zion Israel team is pleased with the progress made so far on our 3D programme permitting process.

“This is a vital step as we move forward with our exploration plans.”

Zion COO Robert Dunn added: “We are enthusiastic about the progress we have made to date with the 3D programme permitting process and other required approvals.”

Zion is currently engaged in the exploration of oil and gas onshore in Israel on their 99,000-acre Megiddo-Jezreel licence area.

In February, the company encountered oil at its Megiddo-Jezreel well in Israel. It identified free-flowing hydrocarbons while circulating and drilling mud during the current open hole wireline logging and subsequent reaming operations.
