The two countries are ready to extend their buyer-seller relationship to an energy partnership that could include liquefaction units in Iraq.
Phase one of the project consists of three liquefaction trains with a combined capacity of 17.5mtpa.
The LNG will be drawn from the company’s prospective Lake Charles LNG project.
The deal also includes three exploration licences.
The stake is expected to raise more than Dh14.7bn ($4bn), including debt.
The hydrocarbon discovery was confirmed in the fourth exploratory well, Lesedi-1X.
The engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract is valued between $750m and $1.5bn.
The companies aim to explore joint venture opportunities in CSG assets in Australia and India.
