China’s lessening import levels and refinery reductions are beginning to take their toll.
The delay affects the installation of the third subsea transmission pipeline, which is pivotal for increasing the gas supply capacity.
The decision comes after a dispute between Kosmos Energy and BP Gas Marketing, a bp subsidiary, regarding liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales from the project's first phase.
The agreement, set to commence in April 2025, will see up to 18 million tonnes (mt) of naphtha delivered to Shell over the duration of the contract.
The contract involves support for both onshore and offshore facilities including the Alba Gas Plant and five offshore steel jacket facilities in the Alba Field.
Concurrently, Woodside has announced that it has renamed the Driftwood LNG development as Woodside Louisiana LNG.
The oilfield is expected to reach a peak production of approximately 18,800 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil by 2025.
