Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, has secured a contract to supply a modularised liquefied natural gas (LNG) system and power island for Venture Global’s LNG projects in the US.

The company has also signed a multi-year services agreement covering maintenance, inspection, repairs and engineering services for phases one and two of Venture Global’s  Plaquemines LNG project in Louisiana.

The equipment contract and services agreement were finalised in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Baker Hughes chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said: “As power demand surges, LNG has a critical role to play in providing a reliable, flexible fuel source that can be quickly scaled to meet rising demand.

“We have been a trusted partner in natural gas operations for more than 30 years, and our collaboration with Venture Global is a key example of what our industry needs more of today: businesses coming together to leverage best-in-class technologies and services that can deliver reliable and efficient natural gas operations to support sustainable energy development.”

Baker Hughes has previously served as a key LNG technology supplier to Venture Global, contributing to more than 100 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of production capacity.

The company has delivered extensive LNG solutions to both the Calcasieu Pass and Plaquemines LNG facilities.

Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel added: “Baker Hughes continues to be a trusted partner for Venture Global in delivering a secure, reliable energy supply to the world and we are thrilled to add another significant milestone to our partnership.”

Recently, Venture Global received federal approval to introduce gas into the Plaquemines facility’s seventh block.

The Plaquemines facility is expected to produce more than 27mtpa, with full commissioning scheduled for completion by 2027.
