International industrial services provider Bilfinger has secured a five-year framework contract valued at more than €20m ($23.04m) to provide insulation services and digital solutions at a key oil refinery in Belgium.

This contract, awarded by a global oil and gas corporation, aims to boost operational efficiency and sustainability.

Bilfinger is set to apply its insulation expertise and tailored digital solutions at an advanced oil refinery in the Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam hub.

The refinery has recently completed a significant upgrade, increasing its capacity to refine heavy crude oils into high-value transportation fuels.

This development is part of the company's focus on modernising its operations in response to escalating energy costs and stringent EU environmental regulations.

This new contract extends Bilfinger's existing ten-year partnership with the Antwerp facility.

The consolidation of services with Bilfinger is expected to offer the client cost reductions and efficiency.

Industrial insulation is vital for maintaining the integrity and functionality of pipelines, assets and installations, which is essential for energy-efficient and sustainable operations.

Service measures under this contract encompass replacing pipe insulation to maintain thermal efficiency, insulating storage tanks and implementing corrosion under insulation (CUI) prevention strategies.

Bilfinger is employing digital solutions across all services to enhance the efficiency of service procedures and cut costs.

These encompass apps for cladding configuration, automated apps for generating reports and invoices, and Bilfinger Corrosion Detection (BCD 1.0), which allows for secure, portable screening of CUI without the need for insulation removal.
