Condor Energies has reported successful well testing at its Uzbekistan gas development project, with the Kumli-45 (K-45) well achieving a stabilised flow rate of 5.3 million standard cubic feet per day (mscf/d).
The well, drilled to a depth of 2,410m, encountered 19.9m of net carbonate reservoir across four intervals, according to open hole wireline logs.
Three reservoirs in the primary pay zone were perforated and acid washed, resulting in a single rate well test at a flowing tubing pressure of 1,053 pounds per square inch (psi) over seven hours.
Preliminary data shows a condensate-gas ratio of 5.6 barrels (bbl) per million standard cubic feet and an initial reservoir pressure estimate of 2,896psi, pointing to near virgin pressure conditions at the site.
The K-45 well is on the western half of the Kumli Northwest Field and is due to begin production later in the month after relocation of the drilling rig.
Condor plans to drill four additional horizontal wells from the same pad, with two targeting the main reservoir identified in K-45 and the other two aimed at a deeper zone. Plans are also under way for matrix acid stimulation, which could potentially increase current flow rates.
The company’s multi-well campaign previously saw the Andakli-21 well reach total depth at 3,456m, incorporating a record-setting 1,279m open hole lateral section for Uzbekistan.
Preparations are being made for acid stimulation on Andakli-21’s lateral section to improve productivity before production begins later this month. Condor also intends to acid stimulate and test the lateral section of Andakli-23, with plans for it to come online in March 2026.
Condor president and CEO Don Streu said: “Although the Kumli field was discovered in 1999 and subsequently developed with a total of 32 vertical wells, the north-west limit of the field had only two wells that encountered the edge of the structure that K-45 drilled.
“Using Condor’s reprocessed 3D seismic data, an alternate structural interpretation was internally generated and indicated the presence of a previously unidentified, large structural four-way closure, Kumli NW.
“Based on the previously disclosed positive acid stimulation results from the vertical section of A-23, we anticipate that K-45 could perform even better once the matrix acid stimulation is completed.”
In July 2024, Condor entered into its first liquefied natural gas framework agreement focused on developing rail locomotives in Kazakhstan to address the nation’s energy transition needs and future growth strategies.
