Eni signs ten-year LNG sales deal with Thailand’s Gulf Development

Eni will supply 800,000tpa of LNG to Gulf Development for ten years, with deliveries set to begin in 2027.

Italian oil and gas company Eni has signed a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales deal with Thailand-based energy operator Gulf Development Company.

This is Eni’s first long-term LNG supply contract in Thailand and is part of the company’s strategy to diversify its global LNG footprint.

Under the agreement, the company will supply 800,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of LNG to Gulf Development for ten years.

Deliveries are set to begin in 2027 at regasification terminals across Thailand.

This contract follows last year’s two-year LNG deal between the two companies for the supply of approximately 500,000tpa of LNG, beginning this year.

Eni said the agreement with Gulf Development is designed to strengthen its presence in Asia and expand its LNG portfolio to nearly 20 million tonnes per annum by 2030.

The Italian oil and gas company aims to achieve this by leveraging projects in the Republic of Congo, Mozambique, the US, Indonesia and other countries.

In a separate development, Eni has also signed a long-term LNG sales agreement with Turkish energy company BOTAŞ.

Under this deal, Eni will supply around 400,000tpa of LNG for ten years, starting from 2028.

This follows a three-year agreement between Eni and BOTAŞ, signed in September this year, for the supply of around 400,000tpa of LNG.

Eni recently started the second phase of the Congo LNG project earlier than planned, with plans to export the first LNG cargo from this phase in early 2026.
