Fugro secures contracts for deep-water exploration projects in Brazil

These three-year agreements are set to support responsible deep-water exploration in key oil and gas regions in Brazil.

Fugro, a Netherlands-based geological data company, has signed two contracts with Constellation, an offshore energy services company.

These three-year agreements are set to facilitate responsible deep-water exploration in key oil and gas regions in Brazil, including the Equatorial Margin and the Campos Basin.

The agreements are part of Brazil's efforts to enhance its long-term energy security by tapping into its own oil and gas resources, serving as a crucial link to low-carbon initiatives.

Fugro's scope of work includes the deployment of advanced remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) aboard vessels managed by Constellation to perform inspections of subsea equipment, conduct interventions, and undertake various observation and survey tasks.

The first exploration project is scheduled to commence this quarter in the Campos Basin using the Tidal Action vessel.

This will be followed by a second project in early 2026 in the Equatorial Margin aboard the Amaralina Star.

The vessels will be equipped with Fugro's FCV 3000 ROV systems, which are engineered for intricate offshore tasks, particularly in challenging environments such as the Equatorial Margin.

Fugro Brazil's team, operating locally, will bring its expertise to these strategic projects, mitigating risks for Constellation.

Fugro Brazil country manager Felipe Vasconcellos said: “Our partnership with Constellation reflects a shared commitment to advancing offshore exploration in alignment with Brazil’s broader energy transition.

“By combining trusted subsea expertise with advanced survey technology, we are helping to ensure that exploration in these frontier regions supports a safer, more resilient and more sustainable energy future.”

In June last year, Fugro was awarded a contract for a site characterisation programme for an Eni deep-water gas project in the eastern Mediterranean.
