Honghua Group, a Chinese energy technology company, has reportedly introduced an intelligent fracturing solution designed to enhance the efficiency and automation of unconventional oil and gas extraction.
The launch comes at a time when reliance on these harder-to-access resources is increasing, necessitating the development of advanced extraction technologies to strengthen global energy security, reported Xinhua via China Daily.
These sources, unlike conventional reserves, require advanced techniques such as fracturing for the purpose of extraction.
Zhao Chongsheng, who manages the fracturing section at Honghua, said that the new solution integrates intelligent control across six key systems including intelligent power supply and distribution, intelligent electric fracturing pumps, and intelligent safety and fracturing control systems.
According to Zhao, the solution will simplify conventional operations by consolidating 33 steps into one automated process, resulting in a 90% reduction in manual labour and a 15% increase in worksite efficiency.
Furthermore, the system significantly lowers carbon emissions and aligns with sustainability goals, all while meeting the industry's safety and operational performance requirements, Zhao added.
A subsidiary of Dongfang Electric Corporation and a global supplier of land drilling rigs, Honghua serves markets in North America, the Middle East and Africa.
The launch event for the solution was attended by more than 300 technical experts representing over 200 companies, universities and research organisations from more than 20 countries.
