Pantheon Resources has completed hydraulic fracture stimulation operations at the Dubhe-1 well, located in the Ahpun field on Alaska’s North Slope.

According to the company, the operation consisted of 25 stages of stimulation and was completed over eight days.

The Dubhe-1 well reached a total measured depth of 15,800ft, with approximately 5,200ft of the wellbore situated entirely within the SMD-B target reservoir.

Operations began on 30 September 2025, with personnel and equipment mobilised from Alaska, Canada and the continental US.

The stimulation process included 25 ‘plug and perforate’ stages, each measuring nearly 200ft in length.

Pantheon said the operation proceeded as planned, with the successful placement of both water and sand, and no spills or safety incidents were reported.

In the coming weeks, the company plans to start drilling out the plugs set in the wellbore to separate the stimulation stages using coiled tubing.

After drilling, Pantheon will install 2-7/8in production tubing and connect the well to a temporary testing system to initiate flow testing operations.

Pantheon Resources chief development officer Erich Krumanocker said: "We are extremely pleased with the success of the operations so far.

“The team did an excellent job executing this large and intricate operation safely and efficiently. The stimulation was performed as planned, increasing our confidence in achieving the objectives of the forthcoming flow testing programme.”

Earlier this year, Pantheon Resources began drilling the Dubhe-1 well to assess the topsets in the Ahpun field.

Last year, Great Bear Pantheon, a subsidiary of Pantheon Resources, signed a gas sales precedent agreement with 8 Star Alaska, a subsidiary of AGDC.

This agreement outlined the commercial terms for a future binding contract for Pantheon to supply natural gas to the Alaska liquified natural gas project.
