Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has signed a six-year engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) framework agreement with the Petrojet-ENPPI consortium.

The Omani oil and gas exploration and production company named the consortium among one of four international groups and contractors competing for projects in a portfolio valued at more than $6bn (OR2.31bn).

The signing of the framework agreement took place at PDO’s headquarters in Muscat, Oman.

Petrojet–ENPPI will be able to submit tenders for multiple future projects during the course of the agreement.

Alongside other regional and international consortia, Petrojet-ENPPI will work within an environment that places Egyptian companies in competition with some of the largest contractors globally.

Based in Egypt, ENPPI serves as an EPC and project management contractor with decades of experience delivering both onshore and offshore developments across the oil and gas, refining and petrochemical sectors.

Petrojet is a state-owned Egyptian joint-stock construction company established in 1975 as part of the Egyptian petroleum sector. It provides EPC services across the oil, gas, petrochemical, infrastructure and industrial sectors in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa.

As part of the framework, the consortium outlined its intention to contribute towards Oman’s in-country value targets.

Planned actions include knowledge transfer, support for local engineering talent and efforts to strengthen national supply chains.

Furthermore, its participation would assist with sustainable economic growth consistent with the goals set out in the Oman Vision 2040 initiative.

In February this year, PDO awarded Lufkin Industries a multi-year contract to supply rod-driven progressive cavity pumping systems for the Marmul-Rahab-Thuleilat-Qaharir (Marmul and RTQ) fields in southern Oman.

Marmul is an onshore, conventional oilfield in Block 6, operated and wholly owned by PDO. Discovered in 1956, the field began producing in 1981.

As of 1983 estimates, Marmul’s stock tank oil initially in place was approximately 2.5 billion barrels.
