Perenco Congo has completed the installation of the Kombi 2 platform at the Kombi-Likalala-Libondo II (KLL II) field, more than two decades after the last well was drilled at the site.

The project represents investment of more than $200m (CFA Fr457.18bn). It forms part of the company’s strategy to redevelop the field and strengthen energy operations in the Republic of Congo.

Connection activities are ongoing and commissioning is expected in early March 2026.

The new platform will include two gas turbines with a total power output of 8MW, supplying energy for the site’s operations. The infrastructure aims to enhance water and effluent treatment and increase recovery of associated gas.

Perenco Congo plans to start a six-well drilling campaign at Kombi 2 in 2026 to raise production levels, boost the field’s recovery rate and extend operational life.

Perenco Congo managing director Gregoire de Courcelles said: “This project is a concrete example of Perenco's commitment to investing in high-performance, responsible, and value-creating infrastructure that promotes the sustainable development of national resources. Congratulations to all the teams involved in this collective success.”

Perenco Congo and Congorep manage operations for Perenco, which has been active in the Republic of Congo’s oil sector since 2001. The company reported daily production of approximately 72,500 barrels of oil and gas as of 2025.

Perenco Congo’s approach includes expertise across all stages of oil project development, from exploration through to decommissioning.

The operator has previously redeveloped mature fields such as Emeraude, delivered performance at PNGF Sud fields, and secured recent permits including Ikalou, Mwafi, Awa, Foukanda and Djambala. The group operates in 12 partner countries as part of Perenco and is owned by the Perrodo family.

In June 2025, Perenco Congo announced its investment in the construction of the Kombi 2 platform at the KLL II permit offshore the Republic of Congo.
