The gas to be produced at the field will be one of the key sources of supplies under the company’s long-term contracts.
More than 190 billion cubic metres of natural gas is expected to be produced from the Kharampur field reserves from 2017, as part of the project’s first phase.
The main target during the phase is the Cenomanian layer. Its production is characterised by a high flow rate and low extraction costs.
Rosneft plans to invest approximately RUR1bn ($30m) by the end of 2014 into exploration for the project. It will conduct pilot works at the hard-to-recover Turnonian layer to select the optimal well design and the most efficient technology for operation.
