This is the first well to be drilled by Ascent on the Petisovci-Lovaszi project area, which is estimated to have gas-in-place of 412 billion ft³ (11.7 billion m³ or 68.7 million barrels of oil equvalent), the company said.
The evaluation programme for the well includes core sampling and wireline logging, and will collect data for development planning and calibration of the 3D seismic to optimise the geological modelling over the entire project area.
Ascent managing director Jeremy Eng said that the well will evaluate the Miocene gas reservoirs.
The company expects the well to be completed as a producing well and then be brought into production, Eng added.
