Mainland Resources has captured the core of the Haynesville Shale at its Burkley-Phillips #1 well on the Buena Vista prospect in Jefferson County, Mississippi, US.
The firm captured a 6m full core from Haynesville from a 18m cored interval at the well, which was drilled to a depth of 6,239m.

The core will be transported to the Houston, Texas, facilities of Core Lab Petroleum Services for a comprehensive core analysis.
Information related to volumes of gas in place within the matrix, porosity, permeability, gas quality, mineralogy and total organic content will be directly analysed from the full core.
The firm said it plans to promptly resume drilling and to reach the well’s programmed depth of 6,705m in early January 2011.
