Rumaila Operating Organisation (ROO) has increased its oil production by 10% to the 1.066 million barrels a day initial production rate agreed in December 2009 at the Rumaila oilfield in southern Iraq.

Meeting this production target represents the achievement of one of the two contractual requirements of a technical services agreement signed by BP, PetroChina, SOMO and the South Oil Company in November 2009.

ROO was founded by a partnership of BP, PetroChina and State Oil Marketing Organization of Iraq.

A total of 20 new rigs are now mobilised in the field with 41 drilled wells, 103 completed workovers and 122km of flowlines laid.

Approval of the Rumaila rehabilitation plan last year was the second of the two contractual agreements.
