Foster Wheeler will perform an availability and reliability study for expanding the Zirku oil processing facilities in Abu Dhabi, UAE, for Zakum Development Company (ZADCO).
ZADCO is to increase the capacity of its Upper Zakum facility on Zirku Island, which consists of three oil processing trains and one train on standby, to accommodate an increased production profile over the next 20 years.

Foster Wheeler will conduct studies to derive a master plan for the facilities and will carry out site surveys to identify a range of potential expansion options and debottlenecking initiatives.
Foster Wheeler interim CEO Umberto della Sala said the firm will combine its extensive technical and project execution expertise in upstream and in-plant assessment, reliability, availability and maintenance to develop and evaluate a range of cost-effective solutions for ZADCO.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
