Salamander Energy has drilled the Dao Ruang-2 well to a total vertical depth of 1,915m in block L15 / 50 onshore north-east Thailand.
While drilling, Dao Ruang-2 well penetrated a number of fracture zones with an increase in gas and experienced a pressure kick at a depth of 1,840m, caused by an influx of gas from a fracture zone.

The well has potential for more fractures associated with faulting below the current total depth.
L15 / 50 partners decided to deepen the well by an additional 525m, a process that will take about eight days to complete.
The firm will restart drilling once the current logging programme is completed.
