Cooper Energy has commenced drilling at the Butlers-2 well, which is located in the Butlers oilfield in PEL92, Cooper Basin, Australia.

Bulters-2 is the first appraisal / development well being drilled on the Butlers oilfield and will be drilled to a total depth of 1,360m.

The well is to be located 0.95km north-east of the Butlers-1 discovery well and will target the Namur oil reservoir.

The Butlers oilfield produces approximately 1,400 barrels of oil per day from the Butlers-1 discovery well in the Namur reservoir. Cooper plans to accelerate its production through the development of additional wells.

The company is also upgrading surface facilities at the Butlers field to handle increased production.
