A consortium of Technip and Tome Engenharia has been awarded a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for five of Petrobas’s new units at the Presidente Bernardes Refinery in Cubatao, Brazil.

The work will include engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, pre-operation and assisted operation for five process units, including a diesel hydrotreater and a hydrogen plant.

Upon completion, the project will allow the production of low-sulphur content diesel to comply with new Brazilian environmental regulations.

Technip’s operating centre in Rio de Janeiro will undertake the engineering and procurement activities, while Tome Engenharia will carry out all construction activities.

The project is scheduled to be complete by end of 2013.
