Gas Natural subsidiary Spelman Pipeline Holdings has acquired pipeline assets in Ohio and Kentucky, US, from Marathon Petroleum.
The Ohio assets include more than 140 miles of pipeline from Marion to Youngstown, and other assets in metropolitan and south suburban Cleveland.

The Kentucky assets consist of 60 miles of right-of-way in the Louisville area and points south.
Spelman is planning to transport natural gas to new markets through the Ohio pipelines and link it to markets served by its Ohio affiliates.
The firm is also planning to extend the lines to participate in the Utica and Marcellus Shale plays.
Gas Natural’s chairman Richard Osborne said the acquisition would bring clean, economical natural gas service to Ohio residents and businesses where natural gas is not currently available.
