Cooper Energy has started drilling on the Parham-1 exploration well in PEL92 in Butlers oil field in Australia, as part of its current drilling programme.

The firm has drilled the surface hole to 616m and the surface casing is running.

Parham-1 is the first exploration well in the current drilling programme, following successful
appraisal / development drilling on the Parsons and Butlers oil fields.

The primary objective of the well is the Namur Sandstone, with secondary objectives in the Birkhead, Poolowanna and Kalladeina formations.

Parham-1 is located 1km to the southwest of the Butlers-1 well and will be drilled to a total depth of about 1,779m, and is expected to take eight days to drill and evaluate.
