Preem AB has awarded a contract to Foster Wheeler to provide the basic engineering design and front-end engineering design (FEED) at its Preemraff Lysekil oil refinery, located north of Gothenburg in Sweden.
Under the basic engineering design phase, Foster Wheeler will develop five design options from the energy-improvement study, which was conducted last year.

The work will include determining the feasibility and extent of modifications required and estimating their associated costs.
Foster Wheeler will further perform the FEED on one or more selected options, allowing Preem to make a financial investment decision in October 2011.
The basic engineering design is scheduled for completion in June 2011 and the FEED in September 2011.
