South Oil Company of Iraq, Royal Dutch Shell and Malaysia’s Petronas have awarded a $106m contract to Dubai-based Dodsal Group to build a pipeline in Iraq.

The 73km pipeline will be connected to Majnoon oil field with a pumping station near the export terminals in Basra, reports Dow Jones.

The Majnoon field currently produces 60,000 barrels a day and is expected to produce 175,000bpd next year.

Shell and Petronas were awarded the project to develop the 12.8-billion-barrel Majnoon oil field in Iraq in 2009.
