BP Iraq NV has awarded an inspection, maintenance and repair contract worth $90m to Petrofac and its joint venture partner China Petroleum Engineering & Construction (CPECC), for the Rumaila oilfield in southern Iraq.
The one-year contract will be lead by Petrofac’s Offshore Engineering & Operations (OEO) business, and the scope of the contract will include rotating machinery, degassing stations and cluster stations.

The Rumaila oilfield, which was discovered by BP in 1953, is located 32km from Iraq’s border with Kuwait.
Petrofac OEO managing director Bill Dunnett said the contract will run from the firm’s operating centre in Sharjah, UAE.
