South Korean firm Samsung Engineering has a received contract from ONGC Petro Additions, a subsidiary of India-based Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, for a high-density polyethylene plant (HDPE).

Under the $229m contract, Samsung Engineering will handle the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning work at the plant on a lump-sum turnkey basis.

The plant will be built in the economic zone of Dahej, which is located in Gujarat, India, and is expected to produce 340,000t of HDPE per year.

The contract is expected to be completed in August 2013.
