Drillsearch Energy has started drilling the Bauer-1 oil well, the fourth well under the five well programme in PEL 91 in Cooper Basin, Southern Australia.
The Bauer-1 well is located 5km south of the Arno oil discovery and 2.5km north of the Chiton oilfield.

The primary objective of the well is the Namur Sandstone, which is oil productive in several structures in PEL 91, with the Birkhead Formation, Hutton Sandstone and Poolowanna Formation considered as secondary targets.
The firm is expected to take 10-14 days to drill the well.
The well will be drilled as a conventional vertical well with wireline logging and possible testing planned after the well reaches its total depth.
