Foster Wheeler, through a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group, has received a contract from Aibel for the provision of detailed design engineering services for its Karsto development project in Norway.
Aibel was appointed by Statoil as the main engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project, which includes the development of the Karsto and Kollsnes oil and gas processing plants.

The scope of work includes detailed design engineering services for modifications at the Karsto plant to enable it to process light oil from the Gudrun oilfield and condensate from the Sleipner field.
The work also includes upgrading eight compressors: three at Karsto and five at Kollsnes.
There are two additional works included as options under the contract: a boiler upgrade project and hydrogen sulphide removal at Karsto.
