Americas Petrogas and its co-venturer Gran Tierra Energy have made a significant new oil discovery at the RN x-1004 well on the Rinconada Norte block in Neuquen Basin, Argentina.
The well flowed at a total combined test rate of 944 barrels of oil per day and 13,360m³ of gas per day from two intervals tested separately in the Precuyo formation.

Americas Petrogas has estimated an oil column thickness of 60m.
The oil is a sweet light crude with an API of 29.6°, which is similar to crude oil produced from the equivalent formation in Americas Petrogas’s Medanito Sur block.
