The state oil company of the Azerbaijan Republic, Socar, has announced a decrease in oil refining by 7.3% in May.
During the month, 474,220t of oil was refined, compared with 511,690t in April, 475,500t in March, 444,380t in February, 580,750t in January and 601,960t in December 2008.

For January to May, refining accounted for 2,486,540t.
The target on pumping of petroleum products for 2009 is 6.21 million, of which January to May amounts account for 40.04%.
In 2008 oil refining attained 7.347 million tons of oil, of which the January to May 2009 figure comprised 33.8%.
For the five months of 2009, Socar has pumped 477,430 tons of motor petrol and 89,720 tons of once-run petrol, 873,310 tons of diesel fuel, 167,770 tons of furnace fuel.
