The Yemeni Government is geared up to construct a new refinery in its port city of Aden, the local Saba News Agency reported.

It will replace the previous refinery to cope with the growing demand for oil derivatives and to expand petrochemical industries.

The Shoura council economic committee is studying the project under authorisation from the country’s Supreme Economic Council.

The head of the committee, Ali Lutf al-Thawr, said that the committee should familiarise itself with the condition of the Aden refinery before developing it.
